our favourite local haunts
We’re spoilt for choice in Tasmania when it comes to food, wine and amazing experiences. Below we’ve listed a few of our favourites if you’re after recommendations on what to do and where to eat in the area.
-
Staying in? If you’re wanting to make use of our fully equipped kitchen we recommend popping into the Hillstreet grocer at Longford. The local sausage shop is great for local meats if you want to make use of our outdoor webber barbeque too!
Going out? Feast Tasmania in Perth and Clarendon Arms in Evandale offer a beautiful atmosphere. If you’re after a classic pub meal you’ll find the Ringwood Hotel 3kms up the road from us.

We have several quaint retail stores 6km from the farm in Longford that are worth visiting: Lofty and Junker Jane as well as Storm + India for your specialised teas. If you’re staying over the weekend we recommend driving to Harvest Market in Launceston (Saturday morning market) or the local Evandale market (Sunday morning).
Evandale in particular has many beautiful stores; Found in Evandale, Wildes Evandale, The Evandale Village Store and Lake Leather.

Cataract gorge is a MUST do in Launceston. Liffey falls is also a lovely outdoor activity close to our farm if you want to go chasing waterfalls or why not have a go at Dry’s Bluff (Tassie’s hardest day walk) a short 20 min drive from the farm.
Ben Lomand is fantastic also as a destination where you can hike in spring and summer and ski in winter.

For catering we recommend Feast Tasmania and Hubert and Dan for catering if you’d like a local chef or full catered experience while staying with us.
